Cherry
The first official trailer for Tom Holland's brand new movie Cherry is finally here.
He was reunited with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo for the film.
The official synopsis for Cherry reads:
'In an epic odyssey of romance, war, drug addiction, and crime, a young man (Tom Holland) struggles to find his place in the world.'
The trailer opens with Tom's character handing a one dollar note to a staff member in a bank.
The words, 'I have a gun,' are written across the front, and, 'This is a robbery,' across the back.
He narrates, "I'm 23-years-old and sometimes I wonder if life was wasted on me."
"I take all the beautiful things to heart 'til I about die from it."
Next, we see the young man talking to a girl on a swing.
He tells her he's really happy she's there, and when asked why, he admits, "Because I like you."
The pair start seeing each other and soon fall madly in love.
But everything goes south when he tells her he's, "joined the army."
"Why would you do that?" She quizzes.
The video stops, and Tom's voice is heard saying, "Sometimes I feel like I've already seen everything that's going to happen."
Images of romance, violence, intimacy and crime flash across the screen.
Tom adds, "And it's a nightmare."
The young man witnesses some horrific things in the army.
"I have this noise in my head"
At home, he breaks down to his girlfriend and tells her, "I have this noise in my head."
She reassures him, "It'll stop. One day it'll go quiet."
We're brought back to the robbery scene from the very start of the trailer.
Tom is heard saying, "I don't imagine that anyone goes in for a robbery if they're not in some kind of desperation."
"I've been at this a while now, and it's no secret what my face looks like."
He runs into a bank and shoots his gun to get everyone's attention.
Despite it all, his girlfriend appears to be the only one he can count on.
He asks, "Can you look back to when you met the one you loved the most and remember exactly how it was?"
"What you saw in her that made you say, 'Yes. This is what I came here for.'"
Cherry is out exclusively on Apple TV+ March 12th.
