The Young Offenders
SPIN's Sarina Bellissimo caught up with The Young Offenders lads Alex Murphy and Chris Walley this week.
They spoke about the upcoming season, and how they managed acting alongside a baby.
They also talked about life in lock-down, and how Chris had some wild Zoom parties in isolation.
Alex admitted his social skills have gone out the window, recalling an awkward conversation he recently had with his uncle.
And he also touched on how their character's Conor and Jock were wearing chains long before Normal People's Paul Mescal.
Lockdown
Like everyone else, the boys spent their time in lockdown face-timing their friends on Zoom.
Chris admitted, "I had some wild nights out on those Zoom calls! Going to bed at like half six in the morning."
He laughed as he pointed out this is something he wouldn't even do on a real night out.
Sarina asked the boys if they've any fears about finally heading back out into society when all this is over.
This prompted Alex to tell the story of how he and Chris got some really dirty looks from people when they went out together once.
Chris has hay-fever, so every time he sneezed, people around became weary of him.
Alex said his uncle came over recently and he found it really hard to maintain a good conversation with him.
He said, "I was like, 'What do I ask him?'... My social skills just went out the window!"
Meanwhile, Chris admitted he finds it strange seeing old pictures of himself and his friends out together in a pub.
The baby
In the upcoming third season of The Young Offenders, Conor and Jock are tasked with looking after Jock's baby girl Star.
Sarina asked Chris and Alex how they found acting alongside a baby.
Alex admitted, "They're the best actor on set 'cause they're just acting natural, they react to whatever they're given!"
He also believes his and Chris' parenting skills have gone, "up a notch."
The actor said, "We learned that they love The Beatles so whenever they start crying, we play The Beatles for them."
Chris added, "I feel like I became a good looker-after... a temporary father figure."
Normal People
The conversation later turned to Normal People and how Paul Mescal's chain became so popular.
Alex exclaimed, "Conor and Jock have been wearing chains far longer than he has!"
It seems Chris and Alex are quite close with Paul.
Alex said they face-timed him the other day and he told them it's been a, "bizarre," few months for him.
