SPIN Chats to Leah Moran
Over the past two months, radio stations around Ireland have been highlighting the local music talent in Ireland by picking their own local hero to compete to receive the New Local Hero Award.
It's all part of Irish Music Month, an initiative by twenty-five local independent radio stations, the BAI, Hot Press, the IBI and XL Retail.
We chose Leah Moran as our local hero and as a part of this, she was put forward as one of twenty-five local heroes from stations around the country to a national judging panel.
The panel chose Leah as one of the top five artists and she will now perform at The Academy on Thursday, 18th November in a bid to win the New Local Hero Award.

Leah Moran
Leah is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Dublin with over 25,000 followers on TikTok.
She started writing songs at a young age but it was only when lockdown hit that she started to share her music. She created secret a TikTok account – and blocked all her family and friends so nobody would accidentally find out.
But when her idol Dermot Kennedy shared her cover of his song, she couldn't hide it any longer.

Leah found out she was chosen as one of the five finalists when she was about to head to her debs.
When she finally got the email, Leah read it three times to make sure it was real before telling her family the good news.
As they were all gathered at her house for her debs, it was great timing that she could celebrate the news with everyone there.
