209 vehicles have been detected speeding so far on National Slowdown Day.
40,917 vehicles have had their speed checked since 7am this morning.
One driver was caught doing 140 kilometres an hour in an 80 kilometre zone on the N4 at Lucan in Dublin.
Others were found doing 81 kilometres per hour in a 50 kilometre zone in Kilcormac in Co Offaly, and 109 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone on the R178 Redbog in Carrickmacross in Co Louth.
The garda operation continues until 7am tomorrow.
