Dublin City Council staff were attacked by members of the public 147 times over the past 5 years.
Figures released under Freedom of Information to the Journal.ie found workers at the four local authorities in the capital were threatened physically and verbally while carrying out their duties since 2018.
More than half of the assaults recorded by the City council were on members of the fire brigade while 31 attacks were reported by litter wardens and other members of the environment and transportation department.
In a statement, DCC said it "takes all such incidents very seriously and works to support the employee as best as possible".
