Two armadillos at Drusillas Park in East Sussex, UK have been put on a strict regime and diet after an over indulgent Christmas.
Pudgy pair Patsy and Eddie reportedly had too many lie-ins over the Christmas period and weren't exercised as much as normal resulting in them packing on the pounds.
The two Armadillos both put on roughly 1kg each over the festive period thanks to extra treats they received.
However, much like humans the two armadillos will have to buck up in the new year and start a new exercise regime this January.
Zoologist Helena Farley said: “Of course being young we do expect them to put on a little bit of weight,
but it seems our girls have over-indulged over the festive period, and they have put on around 1kg each''.
Farley pointed out that a lot of the weight-gain is due to them being very sleepy and not moving around as much during the winter as they are nocturnal animals.
Much the same as for all of Patsy and Eddie will be looking to get a wee bit trimmer while exercising a bit more. The managers of Drusillas Park said that they are monitoring both animal's weight carefully and taking every precaution with their health.
