People are being asked to report bonfire stockpiling as Halloween preparations begin.
Last week Dublin Fire Brigade was called to a fire in Cabra in Dublin.
Anyone who comes across materials such as wood and tires is asked to contact their local authority.
Catherine Brophy Walsh is a Public Domain Officer with Dublin City Council.
She describes what sort of stockpiles are made in the lead up to October 31st:
"Two years ago, I personally came across a huge stockpile which was in a vacant house where they had about 200 tires upstairs afd 200 or 300 pallets downstairs in the house."
Brophy Walsh says bonfires with a stockpile of this size create a risk to life.
