World's tiniest surviving baby
A newborn weighing around the same as an apple is believed to be the world's tiniest surviving baby.
The baby girl, nicknamed Saybie by hospital staff, weighed 245g when she was born at the Sharp Mary Birch Hospital in San Diego last December.
Her mother was only 23 weeks pregnant when she began feeling ill.
She was rushed to hospital to be told she had a condition called preeclampsia.
This can put the lives of both mother and baby at risk.
Earlier his month, Saybie was discharged from hospital as a healthy five-pound baby.
According to the Tiniest Babies Registry, maintained by the University of Iowa, Saybie is the tiniest baby ever to survive.
