Customers who make weekly, monthly or yearly payments are being told to expect extra notifications from tomorrow.
A new, stricter, security system is coming into force, and will mainly affect recurring payments.
It is called Strong Consumer Authentication and it comes under European laws, it will change how we shop online.
This means that you need to carry out an additional security step before you can pay for your bits and bobs.
As mentioned above, the changes are coming in for all of the European Union - so any purchases from those nations will be affected too.
@BPFINews are alerting consumers that from tomorrow, Tuesday 8th March 2022, as part of the ongoing roll out of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), higher security standards will come into effect for certain card payments.

From Tomorrow
The Banking and Payments Federation Head of Payments, Gillian Byrne, has this advice for shoppers:
“From tomorrow, service providers or online retailers must process these payments in line with the security standards, otherwise some customers card transactions will be declined."
"In the coming weeks, you may receive notifications from merchants regarding transactions that are impacted."
"It is essential that you follow the instructions provided by your merchant to avoid any interruption and to ensure continuity of service”.
Gillian has advised anyone who comes across issues to get in touch with the service provider or retailer directly for help.
