Dublin Marathon Takes Place Today The country has voted in favour of amending the constitution in the Blasphemy Referendum.
The final result saw 65% vote in favour of removing the reference to Blasphemy and 35% were against the proposal.
It's the first time each constituency has voted in favour of a referendum question since the vote to establish the Court of Appeal in 2013.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan says the state believes it's important people have freedom of expression:
"We acknowledged the importance of freedom of expression in our democracy and also freedom of religious practice."
"There is, of course, the prohibition of incitement to hatred legislation 1989 which were currently looking at in order to see if that can be strengthened."
