Many students are working in hospitals during coronavirus
There are calls for student nurses to be paid if they're working in hospitals during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Union of Student's in Ireland says many of them are without part-time jobs to get through their placements.
Standard practice means hundreds are in unpaid placements across the country to earn enough hours to be qualified.
USI says education is also a real concern for many student nurses at the moment.
"Some students have been asked to leave their accommodation or their digs," says USI President Lorna Fitzpatrick.
"They want to make sure they can continue in their education without being penalised by their institution.
"Another concern that's come across the board is around payment for student nurses and midwives," she added.
"We're calling for all student nurses and midwives to be supported during this pandemic."
