The CAO Change of Mind deadline passed last week
There has been an increase in students looking to study engineering and health courses at third level, according to the CAO.
By last week's deadline, 71,322 applications were made for degree level courses.
Engineering interest went up by 6 percent compared to last year.
There's also a 7 per cent increase in demand for architecture courses.
However, Arts is down 7 per cent with a 14 per cent drop in languages as a first preference.
In specialist areas there is a strong demand for dentistry up 17 per cent, vetinary medicine up 16 per cent and physiotherapy.
In teaching, primary is unchanged but demand for second-level has gone up.
