Work will start today on Ireland's newest town in south Dublin, where thousands of homes will be built in Cherrywood.
The development is to become the largest construction project in the state, with a new town centre and 4000 homes on the way.
The project will take over 3 years, with work expected to get underway immediately.
Major roads, a cycleway and three large parks will be constructed over the next 18 months.
When completed the road network will serve 30,000 residents.
