The Department of Health has confirmed 226 new cases of Covid-19.
They have been notified of five additional death related to the virus.
Of the cases notified today, 98 are men while 129 are women.
Most people -64% - are aged under 45 years of age.
The median age is 37 years old.
Most cases of Covid-19 are in Dublin, where there are 70 cases.
Elsewhere, there are 26 cases in Donegal, 19 in Limerick, 14 in Louth and 14 in Kilkenny.
The remaining 84 cases are spread across 17 other counties.
Meanwhile, there have been 14 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.
In total, there 224 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 38 of whom are in intensive care.
The 14 Day Incident Rate is estimated to be 79.5 per 100,000 population.
Commenting on this evening's figures, the Chief Medical Officer raised the issue of ICU admissions.
Dr Tony Holohan said today's eigh submissions is "the most in az 24 hour period since the spring time".
"Covid-19 is still an extremely infectious disease which has the potential to lead to hospitalisation and even ICU admissions.
“Ireland has managed to suppress COVID-19 to the lowest incidence levels in the EU in recent weeks."
"We have managed to keep up our safe behaviours and worked to protect each other throughout the pandemic."
Dr Holohan said if Ireland fails to suppress the virus there will be an increase in hospitalisations, ICU admissions and deaths.
