Covid-19: 265 New Cases And Six Further Deaths

The Department of Health has confirmed 265 new cases of Covid-19.

They have been notified of six additional death related to the virus.

Of the cases notified today, 133 are men while 131 are women.

Most people -66% - are aged under 45 years of age.

The median age is 363years old.

Most cases of Covid-19 are in Dublin, where there are 84 cases.

Elsewhere, there are 28 cases in Louth, 27 in Limerick, 19 in Donegal, 15 in Wicklow and 15 in Galway.

The remaining 77 cases are spread across 18 other counties.

Meanwhile, there have been 14 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.

In total, there 232 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 27 of whom are in intensive care.

The 14 Day incidence rate is estimated to be 78.3 per 100,00 population.

Deputy CMO Asks Public To Behave Responsibly This Weekend

Commenting on this evening's figures, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn urged people to behave responsibly over the weekend.

"If you are heading out this weekend, please make every effort to keep safe. "

"Plan ahead, meet outside where possible and keep your contacts to a minimum."

He asked the public to avoid crowded or poorly ventilated spaces and leave if your environment doesn’t feel safe.
