Covid-19: 3 Additional Deaths And 606 New Cases

The Department of Health has been notified of 3 new deaths relating to Covid-19 in Ireland.

They have also confirmed 606 new cases of the virus.

Three quarters of today's cases were identified in people under the age of 45 years old.

The median age is 33 years old.

Most of today's cases were identified in Dublin, where there are 249 new cases.

Elsewhere, there are 57 news cases in Donegal, 39 in Kildare, 32 in Meath and 31 in Louth.

The remaining  198 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

Meanwhile, there have been 24 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.

In total, there are 312 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 75 of whom are in intensive care.

As of March 22nd, 186,653  people have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Deputy CMO Says Household Visits Are Rising

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer says people are still meeting others.

NPHET estimate that one in twenty people visited another household for social reasons, in the week ending March 14.

Dr Ronan Glynn said that just 1 in 20 visited other people's homes in January.

He has appealed to the public to stick to public health guidelines.
