It's hoped a crackdown on crime in Cherry Orchard will be part of a new zero-tolerance approach from Gardai.
An operation targeting recurring criminal activity in the area, including joyriding, public disorder and criminal damage saw five young men, including three teenagers, appear in court over the weekend.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Daithí Doolan says the community can't be held to ransom by gangs and that a long-term policing plan is needed to fully root out criminals.
"This sort of activity (sees) peaks and troughs. It was at a height there in January and February.
"Gardai took action and then it became more peaceful for a while.
"In recent weeks, it went off the Richter scale altogether with robbed cars, cars being torched and roads being blocked."
