Direct provision centre
Residents at a direct provision centre in Co Clare are considering going on hunger strike to be transferred.
13 men have written to both the Minister for Justice and the Minister for Children asking to be moved from the Central Hotel in Miltown Malbay.
Letter from Central Residents to Ministers & IPAS. @HMcEntee @rodericogorman your inaction and lack of response is appalling. @DeptJusticeIRL time for a TRUTHFUL report please. The men have suffered too much. https://t.co/uVLpO9dFwR

The letter, which is signed by thirteen men ends as follows:
"We ask please, we are tired. We can become crazy here.
Please see some way to transfer us to a better place.
We are afraid that this letter can interfere in our case. But we cannot take this anymore.
We must speak to request transfer."
They say the conditions are substandard and have serious concerns for the mental health of the men living there.
The Miltown Malbay Welcome Group is calling for the residents to be immediately moved to where they have access to supports.
