Some firefighters say staffing is a problem during the summer months too.
There are growing concerns about a lack of staff at Dublin Fire Brigade in the run up to Halloween.
They urgently need around 60 more fire fighters to protect the people of Dublin.
Calls have been made for a recruitment drive to take place.
They want to be able to cover those sick or on annual leave to prevent shortages.

Unfortunately, unofficial door to door collections normally end up on fire like this.

One Dublin Firefighter, Shane McGill, says the lack of staff is very dangerous.
"As you know, people have to get their annual leave and they have to be given time off," he said.
"I could show you text messages on particular days where we had three or four fire trucks taken off the road."
"That has serious consequences for the people of Dublin."
McGill recently retired after serving for the brigade for over 38 years.
