The Lord Mayor of Dublin says safety on the streets of the capital is a priority for her as she begins her new role.
Councillors elected Alison Gilliland two weeks ago.
She says she has been fearful while out at night in the city in the past.
So she says she will examine various safety measures.
The Lord Mayor says she has experience of feeling unsafe.
"I Felt Heaviness Coming Over Me"
She tells the story of getting her drink spiked while on a night out in Dublin in the past:
"People think, when you're the victim, oh well you've had too much to drink."
"But I know that wasn't the case."
"It was quite early on in the night, we were leaving early in a taxi to go home."
"I didn't know if I'd actually manage to get home."
She adds, "I could just feel this heaviness come over me, and was feeling horrible.""
"The next 24 hours were just feeling horrible."
"My friend was in the exact same situation."
