Parking charges on the rise.
Street parking charges in some parts of Dublin are set to rise by almost 70%.
The increase is part of a new Dublin City Council parking zone expansion plan.
Dublin city Councillors agreed to a 10% rise in on street parking charges in high demand areas of the city.
It will see charges in yellow and red zones increased, green zones will remain the same.
But The Irish Times reports that the council's traffic department is now proposing to ''extend'' each of the high demand zones to cover more areas.
The expansion means some motorists currently paying €1.60 an hour - will see the charge rise to €2.70 an hour.
The council intends to begin public consultation on the changes next month.
