Dublin Restaurants
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has recently handed out closure orders to eight Dublin food establishments.
Under the FSAI Act of 1998 orders were handed to:
- The Greenery, Donnybrook - details pending
- Centra Kenna's, Cabra
- His Food, Moore Street
- Steam Asian Street Food, Moore Street
- Mroz, Moore Street,
- Gorace Gary, Moore Street
Under The Official Control of Foodstuffs Regulation of 2010 orders were given to:
- Govinda's Restaurant, Abbey Street
- Diamond Pizza, Drumcondra
- Orka Green, Howth
What does this mean?
Generally restaurants receive closure orders for breaches in food safety laws.
An order can require a premises to immediately close all or part of its activities.
Both Govinda's on Abbey Street and Diamond Pizza were ordered to cease operating for unhygienic conditions.
Diamond Pizza was described as 'extremely dirty', while Govinda's, Abbey Street had a cockroach infestation.
Orka Green was ordered to close for having no available HACCP plan among other issues.
Centra Kenna's had an issue with rat droppings.
Steam Asian Street Food had 'widespread evidence' of contamination.
Officers found rodent and other pest contamination at Mroz and at Gorace Gary, both on Moore Street.
While the FSAI ordered His Food to introduce 'adequate procedures to control pests'.
Elsewhere in Ireland
The FSAI ordered a further 15 restaurants across Ireland to close in June, July and August.
Two of these were in Kilkenny, while three were in Limerick.

- The Indian Castle, Kerry
- Nuremore Hotel & County Club - main & function kitchen
- Golden Sea Restaurant - Mayo
- Burger Bite - Limerick
