Leap Card
Homeless families in emergency accommodation in Dublin will have free Leap Card travel for the month of August.
Children in emergency accommodation can currently use free travel during the school year.
The Department of Housing today announced the free travel scheme is being extended on a one off basis.
Many homeless groups say parents need extra supports to help occupy children during the summer.
There are reports that proposals to extend this free public transport all year, and to families outside of Dublin, will be considered ahead of the next budget.
