Gardaí are investigating a hit and run traffic collision and an alleged assault last night.
The incident took place on Parnell Street at the junction of Hill Street at around 12:20am this morning.
Gardai are reporting a man in his 40s was discovered with serious injuries and was removed by ambulance to The Mater Hospital.
They believe he was struck by a green or blue coloured Audi car which left the scene in the direction of Summerhill.
Witnesses also claim that a number of men got out from this car and assaulted the man.
Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact that.
