The government is asking people not to call the Digital Covid Cert helpline unless they're due to travel within the next 10 days.
Around 40 thousand calls have been made over the last two days - but only 7 per cent of them have been answered.
An extra 30 agents are working on the helpline today to try and deal with the backlog of calls.
"Things Will Settle Down"
Government official Liz Canavan is asking people to be patient:
"What we'd like to get to is a more steady state."
"We do understand that people are anxious."
"So we are urging them not to panic."
"We've a good system to turn around."
"Unless you've an immediate need in the next 5-10 days, we would say don't panic."
"Things will settle down."
