Planning permission has been refused on a weekly food market on the Grand Canal in Dublin.
Waterways Ireland have been running a food market in different locations each day of the week for the past three years.
However according to The Irish Times, the market location on the Friday along the Grand Canal before Mount Street Bridge will finish up soon, on the grounds it would be 'seriously injurious to the amenity of the canal'.
It's after around 40 residents complained the market was inappropriate, as it wasn't being used as a farmers or craft market but more an outlet for 'fast-food', with many complaining of littering, overflowing bins and damage to the grass on the canal bank.
The company behind the market initially said in the planning application it provided 'important lunchtime recreational use'.
