CEO of the HSE Paul Reid has said that '' the impact of up to 15,000 healthworkers absent due to Covid is really like tackling
this wave of the Pandemic with one hand tied behind your back''.
While the number of workers absent from work in the HSE is still ''holding'' he expects that figure to improve over the next while.
There is a cause for optimism though, as Reid forecasts that healthcare workers will begin to return to work over the coming weeks.
It's estimated that 15,000 healthcare workers and admin staff are absent due to covid.
1,011 Covid patients are in hospitals today, while there are 92 patients with the virus in ICU for the third day in a row.
