Illegal dumping
Dublin City Council says it is struggling to process the level of illegal dumping happening in North Dublin.
Pictures of areas in Finglas and Ballymun show bags of rubbish, mattresses and furniture scattered around housing estates.
The local authority says it's battling to keep up with demand to deal with fly-tipping, which it says is taking up valuable time and resources.
Civic amenity sites and bring centres are closed until further notice due to Covid-19, but limited collections are in place.
We understand that Ireland is in the middle of crisis, as we strive to maintain our services to citizens. To the few who see this as a reason to engage in illegal dumping, please do not use this as an excuse for poor behaviour that has a negative impact on your community. pic.twitter.com/koXpm1fsqQ

DCC says it will continue to respond as best it can. It says it will prosecute anyone responsible for illegal dumping.
