Instagram has reversed its latest update after it caused outrage among users.
People were left furious this afternoon after the social media giant changed the way you scroll.
Rather than scrolling up and down, users had to scroll from side to side.
In a matter of hours the update was reversed with the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri saying the update was only a test that went out to more people than intended.
That was supposed to be a very small test that went broad by accident. Should be fixed now. If you're still seeing it simply restart the app. Happy holidays! 😬

Like many major updates to apps, this one faced quick backlash from users, even if it only lasted briefly.
On Twitter, #instagramupdate was the number one trending hashtag in the U.S.
Instagram literally went “felt cute but might delete later” #instagramupdate

If Instagram can revert new update this quickly, why is it so hard to revert to chronological ordered posts? #instagramupdate pic.twitter.com/K4MbsqUtSl

Instagram removing the update so fast bc of the hate was the greatest thing I've ever seen a social media community do #instagramupdate pic.twitter.com/ZbQXxmU1Jx
