Today is World Obesity Day and Laya Healthcare have carried out research on our eating habits.
According to the survey, 10 per cent of Irish children aged between 9 and 12 eat fast food takeaways more than once a week.
45 per cent of parents say they had more takeaways as a family since the pandemic.
Healthy Ireland estimates more than 60 per cent of adults in Ireland are overweight or obese.
Did you know? According to @WorldObesityDay, childhood obesity is expected to increase by 60% over the next decade, reaching 250 million by 2030. The time to act is now!#EverybodyNeedsToAct #obesityawareness #WDHD2021 #GITwitter pic.twitter.com/qgrtnyh9Ot

Weight loss expert Dr. Eva Orsmond says families need to start talking openly about obesity.
"We need to start being more aware of our weight and generally about lifestyle habits."
"Really, prevention is better than cure," she added.
"Irish people are not typically very comfortable talking about weight."
"It's often felt that we're talking about the physical appearance and stigmatising people."
