Irish Water is urging homeowners to conserve water amid soaring temperatures this week.
It's put night-time restrictions in place in a number of counties in an effort to refill the reservoirs.
Many people are out making the most of the good weather.
Met Éireann expects temperatures to rise as high as 30 degrees this week.
However the good weather is causing headaches for Irish Water.
They've been forced to issue an urgent appeal to the public.
So it's asking us to conserve water.
It's as supply in areas such as Donegal, Kerry, Meath, Dublin, Laois and Wexford is low.
Environmental Scientist Jack O'Sullivan says this happens during fine weather.
However, the reasons is because the State's water system is outdated.
"This all began when it was under the control of the Local Authorities."
"Some County Councils were excellent."
"The county engineer would really look after the water system."
"But unfortunately, some County Councils weren't so good."
Tips To Conserve Water
Irish Water is urging everyone to conserve water by:
- Taking shorter showers
- Avoiding paddling pools
