Education Minister Norma Foley has said schools will stay open until the Christmas holiday.
It comes after a school in her constituency was forced to shut following a Covid-19 outbreak.
Parents and children at a primary school in Kerry have been told to restrict their movements until December 30th following a Covid outbreak.
Students and staff at Scoil Mhuire in Kilorglin are being tested for the virus.
17 cases have already been identified in the 386-pupil school and it's now closed.
Last week, 62 cases of the virus were identified schools across the country following mass testing.
One man, who's son tested positive for the virus says authorities have been quick to act.
"The HSE has been great contacting us with text messages and phone calls."
He says the Health Executive are "doing their best to contain it.
The father said while Christmas has "dropped down the pecking order" he wishes everyone in the town well.
"I'd like to give my best to everyone in Kilorgan and know that we'll get out of this," he said.
