Leaving Cert was due to go ahead on July 29th
The Leaving Cert is set to be cancelled and replaced with predictive grades.
Last month, Education Minister Joe McHugh said the exam would go ahead as planned at the later date of July 29th.
However, the Department received major backlash to the plans, with concerns raised over mental health of students and if it would be safe to hold the exams under such conditions.
Last week, plans to hold an assessment for the Junior Cert were shelved, with schools now carrying out their own assessments.
Tonight, it has emerged a memo on the Leaving Cert plans is set to go before cabinet ministers tomorrow for approval.
Work has gone on behind the scenes to prepare an alternative to the Leaving Cert and a plan is being finalised.
It's believed anyone who is not happy with the predictive grade they receive will be allowed to sit an exam in early 2021.
