Leaving Certificate
Thousands of students across the country are calling for the Leaving Certificate to be cancelled.
A proposal and petition have also been put together which aims to replace the exams with an estimated grades system.
A similar approach is being taken by the regulator in the UK.
A group of students and I have put together what we believe is the best approach to dealing with the Leaving Cert and COVID-19
Have a look at the website and (importantly) the proposal.https://t.co/6OqRs3RbyT#CancelTheLC#LeavingCert@McHughJoeTD@LeoVaradkar@Education_Ire

The proposal to cancel the Leaving Cert states:
- The safety and welfare of all students and staff must be upheld.
- The progression of students into employment, higher education, apprenticeship, etc.
must be minimally impacted. - Students must receive a formal qualification that accurately reflects their academic
performance. - The qualification must maintain its integrity and must be comparable across years
where the examination cycle takes place as normal. - Previously submitted Leaving Certificate examination material should be considered,
as should the decision to award 100% of marks in certain subjects.
Students are also being asked the question by Unicef.
