12 people have been arrested in east London in connection with last night's terror attack.

Seven people were killed while another 48 were injured after a van was driven at pedestrians on London Bridge, and others stabbed in Borough Market.

Scotland Yard stated they are progressing rapidly.

Unity is the message from Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron.

Earlier this morning, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick has been briefing the media outside New Scotland Yard.

She stated that: "The last thing we need is people over-reacting or taking out their frustrations on people in other communities or in their own communities."

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Theresa May has called on the people of the UK to "come together."

She said the UK was facing a new breed of copy-cat attacker, as "terrorism breeds terrorism".

Mrs. May said Britain's counter terrorism strategy needs to be reviewed, but said security measures alone will not stop the attacks

Britain's main political parties have suspended election campaigning in the wake of the attack.

The Conservatives, Labour, Lib Dems and the SNP have postponed national campaigning.

It is the third terror attack in the UK in three months following the car and knife attack in Westminster in March, which left five people dead, and the Manchester bombing less than two weeks ago, at an Ariana grande in which 22 people were killed.
