More than 50 people have been killed and over 400 others injured following a shooting in Las Vegas.

Police have confirmed the rise in the death toll after a gunman opened fire at a country music festival.

The 64-year-old attacker shot and killed at least 50 people - including an off duty police officer - from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel.

The attack took place near the Mandalay Bay Casino and police say they do not believe there are any more shooters involved.

Swat teams used explosives to get into the room of gunman Stephen Paddock and police say they now believe he killed himself.

They say he had at least eight guns in his hotel room while the US Homeland Security says there's no 'specific credible threat' to other public venues.

People near the area have been sharing what they saw.

The Irish consulate are asking people to follow instructions from local police.
