95% of workers are in favour of a form of remote working.
A study by NUI Galway shows more than half would like to work from home several times a week, while around a third would like to fully work remotely.
9% of people who responded to the survey say they've already relocated to the west, south-west or border region.
A further 14% say they would consider moving house.
The top three advantages for working from home, according to the study, are greater flexibility, makes life easier and increases productivity.
Some 44 percent believing that remote working positively impacts the productivity of their team, while the same amount said it made no difference.
