Gardaí suspect the motive for the murder of a man found dead in a flat in Dublin's north inner city could be drug-related.
28-year-old Tony Dempsey's body was found on Monday evening.
Although he may have been dead for at least a week.
The incident was brought to Garda attention after residents contacted their local station complaining of a bad smell.
Locals also reported the flat was being used as a drug den.
The apartment was managed by the Peter McVerry Trust.
It says the tenant, who is not the victim, had been “struggling to manage the front door” and that others had gained entry to the property.

Murder Investigation
Gardaí upgraded the case to a murder inquiry after a postmortem examination.
They believe Dempsey’s violent death, caused by fatal head injuries, could have been drug-related.
Gardaí and forensic investigators remain at the flat this evening, locals have begun to lay flowers at Kevin Barry House in memory of Tony Dempsey.
Gardaí are still appealing for further information.
