Tweets suggested a tornado had hit Dublin
Online posts which suggested a tornado had hit Dublin have been dismissed by a meteorologist.
A number of people have tweeted screengrabs of their weather apps which suggested a twister had struck the capital.
However, a meteorologist believes it's just a glitch in the systems, saying there were no indications of a tornado hitting Ireland.
I think the Apple weather app is broken. Apparently there’s a tornado in Dublin ♂️ pic.twitter.com/OUPp98cMPz

In addition, it was stated that tornados are quite rare in this part of the world.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather told SPIN: "We do have the remains of tropical storm Sebastian heading our way, which will approach tonight.
"Certainly at the moment, there's nothing to be worried about in terms of tornadoes.
"I would think it's a glitch somewhere in the software in terms of the automatic forecasting of the weather," he added.
