The virus was first detected in China in December 2019.
One market stall in China was the source of the coronavirus, according to the latest studies.
A majority of early infections were linked to the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan.
Scientists examined samples from the environment and animals within the market.
Trinity Professor Luke O'Neill says they've tracked down the source to a single stall.

"The Chinese scientists and an international consortium have now dug into all the data basically," O'Neill said.
"It was two separate events they think .. in November and December of 2019."
"156 cases came from that stall, they'd loads of samples," he added.
"They took thousands and thousands of samples from the market, they sampled hundreds of animals too."
