It's thought around 5000 students could hit the streets of Dublin later today.
The Union of Students in Ireland have organised a major protest calling for more investment in higher education.
The Union believes the sector should be publicly funded, and are against a loan scheme that was listed as a possible funding model in the Cassels' Report.
USI President Michael Kerrigan says the demonstration will send a message to the government:
"Students are taking to the streets because education is in the red.
"The government have been kicking the can down the road on the issue of higher education funding, while 10 out of 14 Institutes of Technology are in serious financial difficulty being starved of funding.
"It’s time to invest, and it’s time to make the right decision to publicly invest in third-level education."
The protest will leave the Custom House Quay, before making it's way to the Department of the Taoiseach.
