New figures show there was a record number of homeless people in Ireland last month – over 7,100 slept on the streets in January.
There were also 2,407 homeless children last month, meaning one in three homeless people is a child.

However, the new statistics from Focus Ireland also show that the rise in homelessness is starting to fall.
There has been a fall in the number of families registered as homeless.
Housing Minister Simon Harris says 2,700 families moved out of homelessness in the first three quarters of 2016.
