It's reported that parking fees in Dublin City Centre could be set to rise by as much as 40 percent.
Dublin City Council is considering the hike, as they claim it would off-set the cost of running the service which includes collecting coins from the machines.
If implemented, parking in the City Centre could cost over €4 an hour.
Independent Councillor Nial Ring believes it's not the best idea:
"Motorist's are welcome, your money is vital to the running of the city.
"We have to take a systemic approach to this, not just 'let's attack the motorists'. They're the ones who come in, buy all the goods and that helps employment."
