Council Rejected Permission
Exactly three weeks ago, Laois County Council rejected permission for this year's festival due to public health grounds.
The organisers had pencilled the event in for three weeks later than usual at the end of September.
So that was to allow more people to get vaccinated, and more time in general to get precautions in place.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said yesterday during a NPHET press briefing that from a public health point of view he'd have no problem with the festival going ahead for vaccinated people.
He said there would still be concerns from a virus point of view, however its lower for vaccinated people.
