A Professor of Immunology says antivirals are a sufficient treatment for those with Covid in their thirties and younger.
This comes after Taoiseach Micheal Martin accepted NPHET's advice that masks will no longer be needed in shops, public transport and schools from February 28th.
It's also recommended not to test healthy people under 55 who have covid symptoms.
Professor Luke O'Neill of Trinity College says Covid is innocuous for younger people.
The optimistic O'Neill says that the vulnerable and elderly should be vaccinated and that anyone under 55 can take an anti-viral if they feel ill or under the weather.
The Trinity Professor did say that ''every'' winter the elderly and vulnerable will probably have to get their vaccine booster.
Luke O'Neill paints a positive and hopeful picture for us of the future and that soon we will be returning to some semblance of normality.
