Remember when we were allowed to bring a handbag and a carry on suitcase onto a Ryanair flight? Well, those days are no more.
The airline has announced today that this scheme which was part of their 'always getting better' programme has been axed.
Ryanair stated that too many customers were taking advantage of the two-bag rule resulting in overhead luggage space filling up and causing travel delays.
In a move to encourage customers to check in bags instead, checked bag fees have been reduced and the bag size guidelines have been increased.
Priority boarding customers will still be allowed to bring two bags on board. For the rest of us the restrictions are:
- 1x small carry on bag will be permitted on the aircraft (35cm x 20cm x 20cm)
- Larger, wheelie bags will be placed under the aircraft at the boarding gate (55cm x 40cm x 20cm)
The changes will come into effect from November 1st.
