Gardaí say investigations are continuing after they seized seven scramblers and a quad in west Dublin.
They were discovered during planned searches in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin yesterday after a number of parks were damaged and members of the public were put in danger.
Two of the bikes had been stolen.
Local councillor Daithí de Róiste hopes more seizures will follow;
the councillor says that whether they are bought or stolen these motorized vehicles have been ''terrorizing our communities for years''.
While de Róiste welcomes the news that these quads and scramblers are off the streets, he said there is ''more to be done and there are still vehicles like this on our streets''.
An average quadbike weighs about 260 kilograms and they are notoriously unstable when driven at high speeds.
Typical top speeds of scramblers are 80 miles an hour which is 128kmh, a higher speed than the motorway speed limits in Ireland.
