Donald Trump's press secretary has defended the detention of a 5-year-old boy in Washington.
The boy, whose mother is Iranian, was reportedly handcuffed and held at Washington Dulles Airport for a number of hours just a number of days after Trump signed off on an immigration order for 7 mainly-Muslim countries - including Iran.
The boy, who himself is an American citizen, was detained for up to 4 hours before being reunited with his mother, before returning to their family home in the state of Maryland.
Spicer told a press briefing on Monday: "To assume that just because of someone’s age and gender that they don’t pose a threat would be misguided and wrong."
