A search is under way for two young men who escaped from the Oberstown children's detention centre last night.
The three boys locked themselves into a room at the facility during an incident which injured the director of Oberstown.
One has since been apprehended and Gardaí are continuing to search for the two others.
One young man attacked a member of staff with a crowbar before cutting a fence with an angle grinder and escaping. A unit in the centre was damaged and has been closed.
Minister for Children Katherine Zappone confirmed this morning that the incident had taken place.
