At around 23:20 local time last night (08:00 Irish time this morning), a gunman opened fire at a bar in California, killing at least 11 people, including a police officer.
The Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California about 65km north-west of Los Angeles was attacked by a man who was later found dead inside the bar, and police are yet to identify the suspect.
At least another 10 were also injured.
A motive for the attack is not yet known, but reports say that there was at least 200 people inside the bar at a college country music night at the time of the shooting.

Footage on social media posted minutes after shooting, show firefighters and first responders flooding the scene after multiple injuries were reported.
A trail of blood was visible on the street at the entrance of the venue.
